General Information
- History: It was established in 2009 as a department of the Faculty of Agriculture.
- Department Program Outcomes:
- To have general knowledge about agricultural engineering
- To have general knowledge about field crops.
- Ability to identify and solve problems arising in the field of Field Crops,
- To be able to apply agricultural engineering knowledge, mathematics and science knowledge to agricultural engineering problems,
- Ability to design a production or R&D study, conduct experiments and interpret the results,
- The ability to produce information in order to ensure quality, productivity and sustainability in different fields of agriculture, especially in field crops,
- To be able to communicate by expressing his/her ideas orally and in writing, clearly and concisely by having the ability to work individually and the will to make independent decisions,
- To be able to have a sense of professional and ethical responsibility,
- To be able to improve himself/herself by following the developments about scientific issues especially in the field of Field Crops,
- The ability to question, produce solutions, be self-confident, and transfer and apply what they produce to their country and humanity with the awareness of the realities of the country and the world
- To be aware of quality and sustainable use of natural resources.

- Infrastructure Facilities: There are 2 laboratories belonging to the Department of Field Crops and analyzes determining the yield and quality characteristics of field crops are carried out in the laboratories. Scientific studies are carried out in the Agricultural Research and Application Center (TUAM) within our university.

Double Major / Minor Programs
Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.
Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

Exchange Programs
It offers students the opportunity to study at another university, either domestically or abroad, for a certain period of time. Thanks to these programs, students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop their foreign language skills and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi.
Career
Aim / Objectives of the Department: To prepare students for professional life by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills in their fields. The main aim of the department is to provide education and research on the cultivation and breeding of cereals, edible grain legumes, oil, fiber, starch, sugar, fodder and medicinal plants, management and breeding of meadows and pastures.
Current Status and Future of the Department: The Department of Field Crops provides master's and doctoral education, and there are TUBITAK and BAP projects carried out with graduate students. It is aimed to increase academic studies and projects in the future.
Occupations Under the Field: Graduates of the Department of Field Crops can work as agricultural engineers in public institutions or private sector.
Job Opportunities: Graduates of the Department of Field Crops can work in provincial and district directorates of agriculture, research institutes and other various official institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, agricultural cooperatives, factories where agricultural products are processed (feed, sugar, canned food, tomato paste, cigarettes, etc.), seed companies and private organizations that market fertilizers and pesticides.
