About us
Field crops are cultivated in more than 3/4 of the agricultural areas of our country. Therefore, field crops have an important place in our country's economy and nutrition of our people. The aim of the Department of Field Crops in Iğdır University Faculty of Agriculture is to improve the field agriculture of our country and to solve the problems. The Department of Field Crops includes the sub-departments of Meadow Pasture and Forage Crops, Cereals, Industrial Crops, Edible Grain Legumes, Plant Breeding and Cytogenetics. In addition, studies are carried out in the field of plant biotechnology, which offers unlimited opportunities to improve crop production.
These departments include plants that constitute the main products of our country's agriculture and their development. It was established in 2009 as a department of the Faculty of Agriculture.
In the Department of Field Crops, there are 5 faculty members (3 Professors, 2 Assistant Professors) and 2 Research Assistants.
There are 2 laboratories belonging to the Department of Field Crops and analyzes determining the yield and quality characteristics of field crops are carried out in the laboratories. Scientific studies are carried out at the Agricultural Research and Application Center within our university.
